Happy Thanksgiving

Well...it was a very long day for me at the Salem Open Studios this past Saturday, but I met a lot of great people that came through and as usual, I had a lot of fun sharing (and selling) my photographs. There were some other great artists there with interesting and wonderful products. I always find it so interesting to talk with and learn about how the other artists started doing what they love. The next time you meet an artist ask them how they started and how what they are selling evolved from probably selling one item to many. For instance, I met an artist yesterday who started out just designing a box to put items like jewelry in to now putting her design on many sized boxes, coasters, trivets and other items. There were so many interesting stories from so many interesting artists of all types. Artists are an interesting bunch of folks. Stop and talk to us/them. We like to tell our story about what we love. For me it's photography, for someone else it may be painting, for someone else it may be writing, etc.

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. It's that time of year when people give thanks to what we have. This year has been a tough year for most of us. Especially us artists. Let's give thanks for the love and friendships we have. For me, I give special thanks for the great friends that I have and the great new friends that I have made this year. I want to thank you for the support that you have given me that has kept me going when times were (and are) tough and scary. You let me know that it's ok that I have this passion for photography and I'm not crazy for trying to sell my work. That I'm not crazy for being a starving artist at this point in my life. It gives me that little push I need to go another day. It means a lot to me. Some times I wonder if I made the right decision in career moves and you are my crutch when I need it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you all. Happy Thanksgiving.
